A recipe for making tomato sauce – One cup of canned tomatoes rubbed through a sieve, One and one-half cups of cold water, Four onions, minced fine, One carrot, cut fine, One fagot of soup herbs. Cook slowly for twenty minutes and then add Three tablespoons of cornstarch, One tablespoon of sugar, Two teaspoons of salt, One teaspoon of pepper, One-quarter teaspoon of mustard dissolved in one-half cup of cold water. Bring to a boil and then cook for ten minutes. Rub through a fine sieve and use.
